About His New Creation

Blogging. If you said that word to me years ago, I would have had one of two images pop into my head.

I would imagine a mom, tears streaming down her face, as she wrote about the struggles of raising five kids that are constantly drawing on the walls with crayons. Wiping the mascara dripping down her cheeks with the sleeve of her sweatshirt, she would muster up the strength to share her experiences and pour her heart out to thousands of other moms that would cheer her on.

Or, I would imagine someone hiding in a corner of his house underneath a blanket while drinking a chai latte. He owns fifty cats that are climbing all over his furniture as he pounds away at his laptop keys. He probably lives in an apartment in Seattle somewhere, or was planning to sell his house and quit his job to travel the world in search of Sasquatch.

Considering that I know many bloggers and none of them fit the descriptions I mentioned, I obviously had many misconceptions about blogging. For that reason, I never thought blogging was for me. When I started this blog, I still didn’t believe it.

I had always learned how to write formal essays and arguments, writing speeches for debates in school. I loved creative writing as well. But blogging?

Blogging was outside my comfort zone; it was the treacherous ocean that only the truly-skilled could navigate and manage to make it to the other side. I viewed myself as the timid adventurer in my unstable canoe, not daring to travel into the waters that at first seemed clear. The skies would likely turn grey, the waves begin to crash against the sides of the canoe, and a torrential downpour of rain drenching me. I was convinced my canoe would sink to the depths of the ocean, with me in it.

But what if it didn’t?

I had to realize something. The water will never be completely free of the waves that will rock your canoe, or the winds that will blow you off-course. But what if you discover your canoe doesn’t sink? Through those waves and struggles against the ocean, what if you learn to better navigate those waters? And with that experience, be able to share with others how they too can navigate those waters?

That’s how His New Creation started. This is a blog dedicated to the process of becoming the woman God desires for you to be for:
